How to Apply for Financial Aid

Have You Already Applied For Financial Aid?

Check the status of your application using SMCC's Online Financial Aid System

Students with questions concerning any aspect of student financial assistance are strongly encouraged to contact the SMCC Student Financial Aid Office by phone - (207) 741-5518 or by email us at finaid@smccme.edu.

SMCC's mailing address is: 2 Fort Road, South Portland, ME 04106

Student financial aid is available on a first-come first-serve basis to all students who apply and qualify on the basis of established need.

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the only application that students must complete to apply for all federal, state and SMCC student assistance. This includes automatic consideration for all grants, scholarships, Stafford Loans (bank loans), and on-campus student employment.

FAFSA's can be obtained from the SMCC Financial Aid Office, high school guidance offices, many public libraries, or online at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/

The FAFSA priority filing deadlines are as follows:

FAFSA Priority Filing Deadlines
Group / Program Deadline Date
New or Prospective Students March 30
Maine State Grant Program* May 1
Returning Students Mid February

*If you are not a Maine resident check with your individual state for specific grant deadlines.

PLEASE NOTE: Prospective (new) students should file a FAFSA as early as possible and not to wait until they are formally accepted into an SMCC academic program.
