Learning Assistance Center (LAC)

The Learning Assistance Center is a drop-in tutoring center that is open to all students. Faculty and staff provide professional tutoring in all English, math and physics courses, as well as accounting, chemistry and computer applications. The Center also offers personal assistance in study skills and time management, inventories of learning styles, academic advising and peer tutoring in technology courses. Accommodations, tutoring and advising are also available for students with diagnosed learning disabilities. Self-paced online college prep courses help learners to meet SMCC program entrance requirements in biology, chemistry, English composition and physics. Online college prep courses in math are available to students who would like to refresh their math skills at their own pace. Please go to http://lac.smccme.edu to learn more about the LAC.
Students have access to computers for word processing and other computer applications, to NovaNET computer tutorials in all general education courses and most technology courses, and to Internet research. Also available are reference textbooks, study guides, and multimedia materials. The facility is open from 8am – 5pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and from 8am – 8pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
